Developer Flysimware, known for its renditions of the Learjet 35A, Sierra 24R, and C414AW, released its newest creation, the Lancair Legacy, for MSFS 2024 in an open beta format.
The Lancair Legacy is a twin-seat high performance piston single kit plane featuring a composite airframe and retractable landing gear. The plane is known for its high rate of climb (2700+ FPM), fast cruise speed (260+ mph or 418+ km/h), and efficient fuel burn (13.5 gph / 51.1 liters per hour).

Flysimware Lancair Legacy Details and Pricing
Flysimware’s rendition features multiple configurations, engine variants, realistic handling, and a deeper ownership experience. The project was created in collaboration with 3DR, who produced photorealistic exterior and interior models. The developer also worked directly with the owner of STARHAWK, a Lancair Legacy celebrated for its extensive refinements, earning EAA Grand Champion Honors as well as the Stan Dzik Memorial Award for Outstanding Design Contribution.
The sound package was developed with SimAcoustics using recordings from a real Lancair Legacy to create a highly accurate engine sound experience and capture the unique character of the real aircraft.
New to the Legacy, Flysimware’s TrueSim technology allowed the developer to model engine behavior, turbocharged mixture logic, fuel system behavior, failures, maintenance, and wear-and-tear in a more realistic way, so the aircraft does not always behave as if every component is perfectly healthy. This option can be disabled if pilots prefer.
Turbocharged variants include custom mixture and supercharger-style logic designed to create more realistic high-altitude operation.
The aircraft tablet is integrated into the default MSFS 2024 EFB environment and features several pages for aircraft setup, failures, maintenance, and system management. Pilots can manage the aircraft’s condition, service wear items, wash dirt and debris from the exterior, service tire-related conditions, and handle failure options directly through the tablet. The included fuel page also allows fueling from any airport location, giving users more flexibility than the default fueling system.
The Legacy takes advantage of modern MSFS 2024 tools in its systems architecture. The electrical system includes fuses and circuit breakers depending on the panel type. The glass panel variants all feature fuse drawer behavior, with failed fuses illuminating for easier troubleshooting.
Pilots also have the ability to choose between free-castering nosewheel steering (using differential braking) or direct nose-wheel steering variants.
As the product is released in a BETA state, pilots should expect a stable experience, but minor bugs might still be present. Additional flight dynamics tuning is planned over the next couple of weeks.
Finally, the beta release does not include the analog panel, which will become available at a later date. According to the developer, the less time they need for beta fixes, the faster they can complete the analog panel.
The Flysimware Lancair Legacy for MSFS 2024 is available now on the Flysimware Store for USD 46.99 / EUR 40,36 / GBP 34.80.
