In an announcement on their Facebook page, FlyingIron Simulations has released their version of the iconic British Supermarine Spitfire Mk IXc.
This short-range WWII interceptor, made famous for its ability to counter the German Luftwaffe, is modeled upon the famous 1720hp Merlin 66 Engine. This release comes with three other variants including the Merlin 70, with both engines offering the clipped wing versions, along with 10 liveries.
Tested by a team of real-world pilots for accuracy and realism, the quirks of the Spitfire have been represented. Nose-down trim on take-off, realistic spin and stall behaviour for aerobatic flying as well as custom simulation of the differential braking system and ground handling.
This highly detailed aircraft includes a complete fuel system, modeled emergency and navigation systems, simulation of the original preset-radio system as well a functional weapons system including guns and bombs.
The full release notes can be found here on the FlyingIron Simulations Website. The aircraft is available for $49.95 (AUD) via their website or $34.95 at X-Plane.org
