FlyByWire Simulations A380X Gets New Update

FlyByWire Simulations has updated its freeware Airbus A380X for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020.

This new 0.13.0 stable update features system fidelity upgrades, new failure modes, Electronic Flight Bag enhancements, optimised texturing, enhanced visuals, more precise hydraulic and engine behaviour and a long list of bug fixes.

Focusing on the highlights, the FCU has had an overhaul featuring better LS auto-selection on LOC mode for better approach captures. The Baro knob now mirrors real world operations including push for STD and pull for BARO, as well as a new metric altitude button to simplify transition between units. PFD and ND brightness behaviour has been refined and cleaned up to prevent memory leaks, and V1 and T/D callouts have been added to enhance awareness during takeoff and descent.

The Electronic Flight Bag has been updated with cabin lighting controls integrated into the EFB Quick Settings, popup logic now requires telex consent to prevent inadvertent data transfer. The Flight Management System (FMS & AFCS) has received layout fixes to improve readability, the ATCCOM connect page has been added, pressurisation failure messages now adhere to ECAM standards, and the simulation rate has been improved, allowing support for up to 4x to make those long hauls much more manageable.

Optimised 4K textures have been implemented to reduce memory overhead while still adding crispness to the model. Cockpit ambient lighting has been improved, as has the addition of LOGO light functionality, and wing flex adjustments have been made to provide a more natural tip-up bend during high-load manoeuvres.
