Stefano from the Fly the Maddog X team has announced that the latest 64-bit version of the MD-8X series has been released for Prepar3D v4.4 and v4.5. Version 1.6b571 is ready to download from your simMarket accounts. It’s a full new installer, but still free of charge for all customers.
The new update focuses on fixing some bugs but also many new 3D modelling changes, along with enhancements to texturing, animations and more. Whilst the team were preparing the aircraft for Prepar3D v5 (more on that in a moment), the team realised many of the features could be brought to v4 of Prepar3D easily and thus wanted to offer them as a bonus to loyal customers. Some of the changes are highlighted in the preview images just below.
Prepar3D v5 Version
As mentioned a few weeks ago, the Fly the Maddog X will be ported to Prepar3D v5, but will feature much more than just a change in file directory and will include many new features. Dubbed by Stefano as a “new stage of development” for the aircraft. Stefano wanted to take the chance to remind the community that the Fly the Maddog X is one of the few products that makes full use of PBR materials in the virtual cockpit (VC) and external modelling. With the new DirectX 12 engine, Leonardo Softhouse will be taking full advantage of the changes to provide a smooth and performance-friendly aircraft in the simulator.
As a reminder, the Prepar3D v5 version will be a charged upgrade with a small upgrade fee to all customers. No time limit will be in place for people to upgrade. For clarity, if customers also own the MD-83 and MD-88 expansion pack, that expansion will be upgraded free of charge when customers upgrade their MD-82 base pack from v4 to v5.
