While many turn up to FlightSimExpo to meet like-minded people, watch product reveals, and try out the latest in flight simulation equipment, there are still many other reasons to go to the show. For the past few years, the FlightSimExpo team has worked hard with local authorities and attractions to offer organised events, and this year is no different, with some incredible Addon Experiences being soon available to book.
This year, you will be able to go on an airside tour, take on an escape room, attend a rave, and even have a tour of KPVD’s Air Traffic Control Tower. All of the Addon Experiences this year can be found over on the FlightSimExpo website, including details on how to sign up.
iniBuilds are this year’s sponsors for the Airside Tour taking place at Rhode Island Airport (KPVD). The airport has agreed to accommodate 400 attendees on Friday and Monday for this exclusive look at the airfield itself. You will board a coach from the Omni Hotel straight to the airport for an opportunity to do some plane spotting up close and personal. What is cool is that this opportunity is open to everyone – not just US citizens.
The airside tour isn’t the only chance you’ll get to see some exclusive areas of PVD, with air traffic control tower tours also open to US citizens. The FAA has put on this opportunity for the community, with a $20 payment only required to cover the cost of transport to and from the airport.

If you’re wanting a more high-octane experience, then you could be involved in the X-Rave, put together by the X-Plane team. Join Austin Meyer and the X-Plane team for X-Rave, a unique celebration where aviation meets electrifying beats! Perfect for flight sim and dance enthusiasts alike, the event will also feature guest DJs from our community, spinning tracks that will keep you moving all night long.
On Saturday, grab some popcorn and drinks and enjoy a private screening of Top Gun: Maverick at the Showcase Cinemas at Providence Place Mall. The price includes entry, a drink, and a medium popcorn. If you’d rather some live entertainment, there will also be a comedy bus tour taking place, which gives you a tour of the city along with some R rated comedy.
On the Exhibit Floor
Tours beyond the walls of the convention centre aren’t the only things happening. If you’re new to flight simulation and want to know what each company does, then you can get involved in a free floor tour during the weekend by one of the FlightSimExpo staff. Those of you who are more creative and want to get into the hobby by making things, then both X-Plane and Mobiflight has you covered. Over the weekend, they have various workshops on putting together your own hardware or even developing your own bit of flight simulation software.

There are plenty of opportunities to get involved during the weekend. Regardless of your experience or interest, there will likely be something relevant for you with the Addon Experiences on offer.
