Flightsim.to Updates Terms of Service

As proposed earlier this week, popular content website flightsim.to has updated its Terms of Service. The changes particularly relate to the deletion policy that was a large point of contention in the community over the last week.

The changes follow on a backlash over the changed Terms of Services. These changes saw developers no longer able to delete their content from flighsim.to. This caused several freeware developers to remove their content from the freeware website. Most notably, developer Got Friends, who develops both freeware and payware, saw all their products removed from the website.

Earlier this week flightsim.to made a proposal to allow creators to delete their content from the website. The proposal was met with cautious optimism, and over the last few days developers and flightsim.to have worked together on refining the outcome more. This has now led to new Terms of Service, particularly with a new Deletion Policy.

The new policy allows for developer and creators to delete their content. A so called ‘termination period’ will go into effect once a creator gives notice to have their content deleted, during which said content is still available. Subscribers to the content in question will be notified that it will be deleted from the website, ensuring that the deletion does not disrupt other add-ons and dependencies. The file termination period differs per content category. After this termination period, content will be deleted from the flightsim.to servers and no longer be available to the users. Content that is not covered in the termination period section will be deleted immediately. More details on the deletion policy can be found from the website’s Help Center, where frequently asked questions are also answered.

The new policy will come into effect on March 5th. Though most users and creators seem happy about the outcome, the question still remains whether all content creators will return to flightsim.to. Several other community members, both developers and users, continue to provide criticism over flightsim.to’s Premium service announcement.

Flightsim.to Premium

Amidst the backlash, flightsim.to also rolled out their Premium service. Users can go Premium for $2 for a 3 Day Trial. You can also purchase Premium for 1 month for $6, and for 3 months for $16. These are one-off purchases and not ongoing subscriptions. The website will continue to work as it is for free users, with access to all free content. Premium users will have access to faster downloads, no ads, no download limits and exclusive Flightsim.to Store Coupons.
