FlightSim Studio has confirmed its release plans for the Boeing 727-200 Freighter. Announced at FlightSimExpo 2024, the team has confirmed the awaited classic jet will be released next week on August 6th 2024.
The Boeing 727 was one of the original jet-powered aircraft that Boeing produced in the 1960s. Easily recognizable by its “T-tail” design and 3 rear-mounted engines, the Boeing 727 became an instant hit with airlines as it could easily operate out of smaller, domestic airports.

Unlike its more recent E-Jets release, FlightSim Studio has said that this will not be an early access release, and will be mostly feature-complete upon release. Of course, that isn’t to say they won’t update the plane in the future based on feedback or implementing new features.
FlightSim Studio is going to extreme lengths to ensure all the intricacies and quirks of the Boeing 727 are accurately represented. Furthermore, despite the challenging nature of the 727’s analog cockpit, FlightSim Studio assures that anyone can learn to fly this plane with the implementation of a virtual crew and EFB.
That said, FlightSim Studio did confirm that GNS-XLS will be delayed in favour of the enhanced INS system. The GNS-XLS system will be added approximately 1-2 months after release.
For an example on how things are progressing, you can watch an APU start-up video below.
When the plane does release on August 6th, it will be made available for €40/$42 making the 727 product available for “budget-minded simmers as well.” For more, you can watch back our interview with the team.
