MSFS developer FlightSim Studio has announced their latest aircraft project, the beloved Boeing 727-200 Freighter.
The Boeing 727 was one of the original jet-powered aircraft that Boeing produced in the 1960s. Easily recognizable by its “T-tail” design and 3 rear-mounted engines, the Boeing 727 became an instant hit with airlines as it could easily operate out of smaller, domestic airports. With over 1,800 aircraft produced by 1984, the 727 was one of the most successful domestic aircraft at the time. While only a handful of operators still fly the Boeing 727, the type was widely used by airlines around the world.

To the flight sim community’s delight, FlightSim Studio’s Boeing 727 release is slated for the end of July 2024. Unlike their previous E-Jet release, the Boeing 727 will not be an early access product and will be feature-complete on release day. FlightSim Studio is going to extreme lengths to ensure all the intricacies and quirks of the Boeing 727 are accurately represented. Furthermore, despite the challenging nature of the 727’s analog cockpit, FlightSim Studio assures that anyone can learn to fly this plane with the implementation of a virtual crew and EFB.
The announcement of FlightSim Studio’s Boeing 727-200 Freighter is welcome news for MSFS users as more high-quality Boeing add-ons have been joining the simulator. In addition to the freighter version, FlightSim Studio is planning to release the 727-200 passenger version. However, the timeline for that product is unclear yet.
