FlightLinq has released version 1.4.0 of its virtual airline and flight tracking platform, introducing aircraft maintenance, a redesigned Route Finder and new communication tools for pilots and airline staff.
The update also arrives alongside a new partnership with SayIntentions.AI, which will serve as FlightLinq’s hosting provider moving forward.
One of the biggest additions is a new aircraft maintenance system. Commercial-tier airlines can choose between Managed, Advisory and Enforced modes, determining how much aircraft health and defects impact operations.
Aircraft now have individual technical logs where defects can be reported, deferred and resolved. Maintenance ranges from overnight A checks through to full D checks, whilst aircraft that fall below an airline’s dispatch requirements can be taken out of service. Optional dynamic failures can also be enabled for Microsoft Flight Simulator and X-Plane, with consent required from the pilot.
Flight planning has also been improved with a redesigned Route Finder. The system considers a pilot’s current location, available time, accessible aircraft and preferred type of flying before suggesting suitable routes. Recommendations can take passenger demand and repositioning requirements into account, with results displayed alongside an interactive map.
Also new is Airline Messages, which allows pilots to have persistent conversations with airline or hub staff. Operational messages can be sent directly from the Live Map, with pilots able to quickly respond with options including “Acknowledged”, “Unable”, “After Landing” and “Need Assistance”.
Elsewhere, Pilot Pro members have gained additional profile and OBS customisation options, whilst bug reports and feature requests can now be submitted and tracked directly through FlightLinq.
