FlightFX has released a massive update to their popular super-midsize business jet for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. According to the developer, version V2.1.4 of the Citation X touches nearly every part of the aircraft, including avionics, flight dynamics, performance prediction, the EFB, walkaround functionality, visuals, sound, and Career Mode support. The update also introduces an all-new “Inertial Immersion System,” which simulates dynamic seat and body physics during flight, as well as the rattles, shakes, and vibrations experienced in various flight regimes. The V2.1.4 changelog includes over 100 items that have been updated, added, or improved.
As one can expect with such an extensive changelog, changes can be found all throughout the add on. Highlights include an overhaul of the avionics and aircraft systems, including fixes for LNAV sequencing, published missed approach support, advisory VNAV, realistic performance/fuel predictions with SimBrief wind integration, smoother autothrottle logic, and added EGPWS/GPWS capabilities. Additionally, the Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) features a redesigned UI with LIDO charts, satellite/OpenStreetMap views, persistent settings, and SimBrief weight-and-balance sync. The visual model has also been optimized into a single high-performance build and now includes windshield scratch/iridescence textures. Finally, the update refines the Citation X’s flight dynamics with tuned spring-based wing flex and reduced spoiler drag.

FlightFX has also provided clarity surrounding the upgrade path for owners of the Citation X in MSFS 2020. In the release, they state that due to growing technical differences between MSFS 2024 and MSFS 2020, the MSFS 2020 edition of the aircraft will soon transition to a ‘maintenance-only’ status reserved for critical bug fixes only. FlightFX does plan on backporting all feasible features and fixes from V2.1.4 to MSFS 2020, but that will be the final major feature update for that edition of the aircraft. Following that effort, all active development on the Citation X will shift exclusively to MSFS 2024.
