FlightFX Bringing Chicago Executive Airport to MSFS

Another newcomer to the scene has shared their plans to release a new airport to Microsoft Flight Simulator. This time, a company called FlightFX will be bringing Chicago Executive Airport (KPWK) to the simulator. Shared on the official forums, the team shared a number of screenshots of the airport in the simulator along with an approximate release date.

Located 18 miles north of Chicago, the airport is the ideal spot for GA and business aircraft to avoid the hustle and bustle of Chicago O’Hare. That said, the airport still sees over 75,000 movements a year and is the fourth busiest airport in the state.

Whilst the new team didn’t share specifics for the feature set, the screenshots tell their own story about what to expect when the product does release. We can see there are plenty of custom 3D objects throughout, along with extensive use of PBR materials on all of the buildings. Furthermore, there’s clear use of weathering effects and plenty of detail for airport signage and even the nearby drive-through. As Chicago Executive Airport houses a lot of business jets, it’s great to see simmers can rest their virtual planes in virtual hangars designed specifically for those types of planes.

FlightFX said that the plan is to release sometime this week through various third party stores. You can see even more screenshots of the airport on the forums.
