FlightControlSpotter V2 Update Adds Fly-By Camera and Enhanced AI Spotting for MSFS 2024

FlightControlTools has announced that a major V2 update for its aircraft spotting utility, FlightControlSpotter, will be released tomorrow for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The update introduces a new Fly-By Camera system, expanded AI traffic integration, and additional camera management tools designed to improve the overall virtual spotting experience.

The update focuses on creating more cinematic and dynamic ground-based viewing within Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. According to FlightControlTools, the new Fly-By system allows users to follow both their own aircraft and nearby AI traffic through a range of smooth external camera perspectives.

At the centre of the update is the new Fly-By Live Camera feature, which is exclusive to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The system enables users to track aircraft during departures, arrivals, taxi operations, and fly-bys with adjustable zoom levels, camera distance, viewing angles, and transition timing between positions. The goal is to create a more fluid and realistic spotting experience while maintaining fast camera control directly within the simulator.

The V2 update also expands AI traffic interaction inside the simulator. Users can now select and follow nearby AI-generated or live traffic aircraft in real time using the Fly-By Live Camera system. FlightControlTools says the improvements offer more stable visual tracking during busy airport operations and community fly-in events.

Additional improvements include a revised Spot Camera mode for quickly positioning a spotting viewpoint with immediate drone controls. A new Drone Position Save and Load feature for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 also allows users to store custom drone camera locations for future spotting sessions. Previously, the software only supported saving aircraft coordinates.

FlightControlSpotter V2 will be provided as a free update for all existing users.

To showcase the update ahead of release, Practically Geek will host a preview livestream on Thursday, May 14th at 7:30 PM UK time. The stream will demonstrate the new Fly-By functionality and updated spotting workflow.

FlightControlSpotter is available for both Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024 through SIMMARKET on PC, as well as through the in-sim Marketplace for PC and Xbox users.

FlightControlSpotter is currently discounted by 20% on SIMMARKET until May 21st, with pricing set at €12.00 excluding VAT. Bundle pricing with FlightControlReplay V5 and upgrade discounts are also available.
