Since Flight Sim World’s initial release back in May, the team have released numerous updates bring the sim to life. Whether it be introducing a new weather system or cold and dark, the team have been implementing features pretty fast. We recently caught up with both Dan Dunn and Stephen Hood from the team to give us some more insight into the future of Flight Sim World.
Today, Cryss from Dovetail Games has given further insight into what the future holds and what the team are currently focusing on.
The first thing on his list was Dynamic Weather. This has been a highly requested user feature and their target is for the simmer to see weather change during the flight.
Something else that is desired by the community is more variety in aircraft types. We have seen Just Flight release their Arrow III into Flight Sim World and BlueSky FS confirmed they’re working on bringing aircraft to FSW. Dovetail have said that they are working both internally and with 3rd parties to bring general aviation, jets, helicopters and military aircraft into the sim.
Along with bringing in new aircraft types, they are also working improving the aircraft systems. This includes the auto-pilot and GPS avionics to build a foundation for IFR in the future.
The long-awaited SDK is also being worked on. Dovetail wanted to say a special thanks to the guys at Turbulent Designs and BlueSky FS for their help whilst developing it. The SDK will be free so anyone can create content for Flight Sim World.
Last but not least, bug fixes:
- Sim Stability
- Full screen + multi-monitor issues
- Aircraft rolling to the left
- Peripherals
- Ongoing performance improvements
We’ll continue to bring you more news from Dovetail Games’ Flight Sim World as and when. You can also watch our video on Turbulent Design’s Big Bear City Airport in FSW below.
