HiFi Simulation has teamed up with Twitch streamer Chillywillies to preview the upcoming Active Sky XP for X-Plane 11. This is the first entry for the popular weather engine in the new simulator, so there’s a lot of hype surrounding it. We can confirm that the PLANNED release of Active Sky XP is due on Monday December 10th 2018.
The stream is intended to go live at around 6PM Pacific Time on Saturday 8th December 2018 (02:00am zulu on Sunday 9th December 2018). We have embedded his stream down below.

We shared the first details of the upcoming weather engine in our previous posts. One of the more important features is the new active air effects. This will enhance turbulence and air effects that can manifest themselves in a whole list of different ways and take several factors into account. Weather depiction will allow users to change the weather to a theme of their choosing, including a ‘real weather’ mode. There will also be voice weather delivery, surface crosswind attenuation and to top it all off there will be a mobile companion app.
It is intended to release at a price of $39.99 as a special discounted price to say thanks to the fans who have stuck by the team over the years. HiFi confirmed that the price will eventually increase as features are added. Just a reminder that current users of FSX/P3D products will not be entitled to any cross-grade discount. This is down to the cost and 3 year development lead the product has had.
