We haven’t heard from Fenix Simulations since November time when they released v1.0.6.146 of their A320 for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Today a brief update was shared by Aamir on the Fenix Simulations Discord to tell the community that they are still very much alive and active, with plenty of work ongoing behind the scene.
In his statement on Discord, Aamir said that there’s nothing too much to show or announce at this time, other than the fact they are “much further along on all fronts mentioned in the last update.” He said that the new v2 update is “[an] expectedly huge undertaking, rivalling the amount of work required for the original development.”
Whilst nothing was shown off, some detail about what to expect in the new update was shared. Right now, the external engine model is in the final phases before it’s pushed into testing and then dealing with edge-case scenarios. The flight model and the fly-by-wire systems have also been refined, with a focus on crosswind take-off and landing performance. For those curious about performance enhancements, Aamir says that “[the] display system show[s] a significant uplift in performance.” He continued, “[…] from displays to the 3D model, [everything] is looking very nice with a few ‘never seen before in MSFS’ goodies, all whilst consuming less resources.”
Despite the amount of work going into this new version, Aamir says that the team is keeping to their internal schedule on their development roadmap. Concluding his post, Aamir wanted to reassure people that they are working hard on the update and that the wait will be worth it.
