FeelThere, the developers of the ATC simulation platform Tower Simulator, has given a detailed showcase of the newest version of their ATC simulator product, Tower 3, at FSExpo in Providence, RI.

The newest rendition of the immersive air traffic control (ATC) product is a fully rebuilt simulator, re-designed from scratch over the previous editions to recreate the page, complexity and structure of real world ATC.

Despite the idea of jumping straight into the Tower at your nearest commercial airport perhaps seeming a bit daunting for a newbie, the developer says they have worked hard to simulate the feel of ATC without requiring background knowledge or a certification just to get started.

Brand new for Tower 3 is a multiplayer framework and custom mission support, enabling scenario-building. Want to simulate an emergency inbound? Perhaps a comms blackout at Newark? With this feature, users will have the ability to construct these types of incidents and replay them in missions.

Also new in Tower 3 is a physics-based lighting and visual engine. Dynamic shadows and real-time weather is pulled directly from the real world METAR report and presented in game. You’ll notice trees blowing in the wind, accurate windsocks, even the grass moving in what the developer says is the most visually alive environment they’ve ever created.

FeelThere also says the simulator can cater to any play-style or knowledge level. They said on stage that they’ve seen users engage with their product in a variety of ways – some for relaxing single player sessions, others in casual fun with friends on multiplayer – even in classroom environments. The sim is flexible in this regard and can scale to the needs and desires of the user.

The team are looking to continually iterate on the product and aspire to release 2 premium DLC airports per month, as well as regular updates and improvements taking into account feedback from the player base. They also announced a new partnership with JustFlight, who are supporting the team with some of these airport sceneries as well as aircraft models.
