Emerald Scenery Design added a classic homebuilt aircraft, the Pietenpol Air Camper, to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. This is Emerald Scenery Design’s second aircraft in the lineup, following the 1500R Sport.
The Pietenpol Air Camper is quite the unique airplane. This parasol-wing homebuilt airplane is designed with a wooden airframe in mind. Kits were made available in the 20s and 30s but didn’t gain traction again until 2015 after kit versions of the Air Camper were introduced by Aircraft Spruce & Specialty, giving it newfound popularity.
Emerald Scenery Design provides simmers with the means to experience this charming little airplane with high-fidelity detail thanks to a 3D scan of the real airplane and recordings of the Continental A65 engine – all paired with a refined flight model leveraging input from real pilots.
