Emerald Scenery Design Alaskan Mesh Project Expanding to Cover Orbx SAK

In an expansion to their Alaskan Mesh Project, Emerald Scenery Design has announced that Orbx’s Southern Alaska region will now be covered by their mesh project!

The scenery is currently in the late stages of development and will include a base layer of 10m mesh with select areas in up to 3m resolution. Areas covered in 3m mesh are currently Eklunta Glacier, Valdez, a greater part of the Kenai Peninsula and the lower Matanuska Susitna river valley area.

At the same time of the release of the SAK expansion, Emerald will be pushing an update for the current Alaskan Mesh Project coverage area which shall then be known as AMP: SE. The update will expand the current 10m coverage area with newly released data and will bring the total coverage area to roughly 224,359 km². In addition, Emerald has also re-exported all of the 10m data as 32-bit GeoTiffs instead of the old 16-bit which will allow for more precise data. A fix for the Nome Creek 3m coverage area will also be included as well as optimized coverage areas for Nome Creek and Fairbanks in order to decrease file sizes.

To accommodate this release, Emerald Scenery Design has decided to create a page dedicated to their AMP which will include an interactive map to allow users to see both the current 3m and 10m coverage areas. This should keep things much more organized for future additions ot this project when they arrive! Note that at the time of writing this article the webpage has not been made public yet and will presumably be made available upon release of the new expansion. A few preview shots can be found below.
