Eagle Dynamics has announced a new terrain module for DCS World, revealing DCS: Cold War Germany in their latest newsletter. Developed by Ugra-Media, the team behind the Syria and Normandy 2.0 maps, this module recreates central Europe during the Cold War in the 1980s.
According to Eagle Dynamics, the new map spans 980×800 km covering West Germany, East Germany, parts of Poland, Czechoslovakia, and the Low Countries. The terrain centers on the Fulda Gap, which was a potential invasion route during the Cold War, and includes areas of the Baltic Sea for naval operations.

The map features over 100 military airfields and heliports including NATO bases like Ramstein, Spangdahlem, Hahn, and Bitburg, as well as major civilian airports such as Tegel, Schönefeld, Tempelhof, Frankfurt, Hamburg, and Hannover. Cities included on the map are Berlin, Frankfurt am Main, Hamburg, Magdeburg, Leipzig, Lübeck, and more.
Ugra-Media has created reproductions of infrastructure including road and rail networks, power plants and electricity grids, industrial sites, mines, tunnels, stadiums, rail yards, and cultural landmarks. The map includes army bases, listening posts, naval bases, training grounds, weapon storage facilities, and the militarised frontier between East and West Germany.

The initial release will feature summer textures focused on the central portion of East and West Germany, allowing players to create “what if” scenarios of a potential World War III in Europe. Eagle Dynamics states that later updates will add additional detail, airfields, and features to the north and south, as well as expand westward to include parts of the Netherlands, Belgium, and Denmark. These updates will also introduce spring, autumn, and winter textures.

No release date or pricing information was provided for the Cold War Germany map. More development screenshots are available on the DCS World website.
The newsletter also announces that the DCS Spring Sale 2025 is now available on both the DCS e-shop and Steam until March 20th, offering discounts of up to 50% on various modules, terrains, and campaigns.
