Drzewiecki Design has released their latest European project for MSFS, this time taking us to the eastern Polish city of Radom.
Warsaw-Radom Airport (EPRA/RDO) is a mid-sized joint civil-military airport located in central Poland. The airport can trace its roots back to 1929, when it served as a training facility for one of the first Polish civilian pilot training schools. Throughout the 20th century, the airport served as a key training facility for the Polish military. In 2006, talks about transforming the field into a passenger airport began, with lease-agreements and construction on facilities beginning in the early 2010s. However, the airport struggled to maintain consistent airline service, with many airlines citing low demand in the city. The airport closed in 2019 for the redevelopment of the Radom airport into the new Warsaw-Radom airport. With this redevelopment, the airport was repositioned as a relief airport for Warsaw Chopin Airport. Due to COVID-19 construction delays, Warsaw-Radom Airport finally opened in April 2023.
With the airport’s relatively new passenger facilities, Drzewiecki Design has taken the opportunity to create a high-quality and current rendition of Warsaw-Radom Airport. The FPS-friendly design features dynamic lighting, PBR textures, and HD mesh that incorporates the true-to-life runway shaping. Like all of Drzewiecki Design recent releases, Warsaw-Radom features interior modeling of the passenger terminal and ATC tower, along with custom airport buildings, and high-quality static aircraft, people, and ground service vehicles.
