Longtime scenery developer Drzewiecki Design has released their latest European airport for MSFS, Katowice Airport.
Katowice Wojciech Korfanty Airport (EPKT/KTW) is Poland’s fourth busiest airport and sits 19 miles north of the city of Katowice. The airport is named after Polish politician, Wojciech Korfanty, who served during the early years of Poland’s independence. The airport can traces its roots back to the early days of World War II when it was primarily used as a military airbase. However, with the construction of a new runway in 1964, the airport began passenger service with LOT Polish Airlines. The airport experienced a surged of growth in the 2000s with low-cost carrier Wizz Air launching its first flight from the airport in 2004. Since then the airport has opened new passenger terminals and constructed a new runway in 2015. Today, Katowice airport serves as a focus city for a number of carriers, including LOT Polish Airlines, Ryanair, Wizz Air, and many more.
Drzewiecki Design’s rendition of Katowice Airport is compatible with both MSFS 2020/2024 and seeks to be a high-quality replica of the real-life airport. The scenery includes a FPS-friendly design with advanced night textures, dynamic lighting, and PBR materials. The emphasis on performance-friendly design continues into the interior modeling of the passenger and ATC tower, while still featuring high-quality static aircraft, animated people, and ground vehicles.
