Set to open in 2026, Western Sydney International Airport (ICAO: YSWS) is coming to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 as Drzewiecki Design confirm the rumours of its development are true.
Construction on the airport started in 2018 and the airport is set to become home to Australia’s first fully digital air traffic control system, with a 45-metre mast equipped with over 20 HD cameras in place of a typical air traffic control tower.
Releasing in MSFS 2024 to take advantage of what Drzewiecki Design call the ‘cutting-edge technology’ of the simulator, they say are ‘committed to delivering highly detailed visuals, optimized performance, and an immersive flight simulation experience.’

The airport will be their first foray into Australian scenery design, though developing a scenery for an airport that is yet to be completed in real life naturally comes with various challenges and they are looking to you for help.
In their Facebook post, they write that ‘to ensure the most accurate representation of YSWS, we are seeking reference materials, including airport documentation, high-quality images, charts, blueprints, and operational insights. If you are involved with the airport’s development or have access to relevant resources, we would love to connect with you.’
Although the scenery, much like the real-world project, is still under development, users can follow their Instagram page where they promise weekly updates on its progress. Additionally, FSElite will keep you up to date with the latest on this new and exciting Aussie project.
