Announced during Orbx’s massive Roadmap stream, Orlando CityScene is due to be the biggest CityScene project to date from the team. For those who aren’t sure, CityScene is new technology from Orbx which enables massive areas of land to be covered in realistic looking buildings for the area, custom 3D models and bypasses the traditional autogen models in a optimised environment. Meaning the user has the best looking experience with minimal impact on performance.
Orlando is no different, as it will cover 1,115km2 of the Floridian city, and include renditions of two airports. Both KMCO Orlando International Airport and KORL Orlando Executive Airport will be included. It should be noted that whilst they aren’t going to be as high quality as commercial payware airports, they will provide a high level of detail to complete the Orlando experience.
Developed by Allen Kriesman, the product will feature nearly 3.9 million regional trees, over 200,000 accurately sized, shaped and positioned buildings and over 135,000 lights, objects and other water features. You’ll be able to explore many points of interest including Disney themepark attractions (such as the Haunted Mansion and Epcot), Orlando Renaissance Seaworld (home of FlightSimExpo 2019) and even Lockheed Martin’s HQ.
The preview screenshots demonstrate the detail the product is aiming to achieve when it releases very soon. When it is out, you’ll be able to buy it for $29.95 AUD (approx. USD $21.10 / €18.50 / £16.65).
