DC Designs have been hard at work not only to deliver their first piece commercial scenery, Farnborough (EGLF), but they have also given us weekly insight into the progress made by the team. In this current update, we are told that the custom ground textures are moving along nicely and that the hand-crafted roads and railways are to be seamlessly compatible with current photo scenery such as Orbx EU England.
The airport is surrounded by thick Hampshire forest, which is modelled close to the airport, along with custom autogen and other natural features to assist in seamless connection to the surrounding areas. Work on the airport polygons and buildings is now underway although most of the work is yet to be done on taxiways and aprons within the airport boundary. With the completion of the outside areas of the airfield being completed, I am sure we will see an update regarding lots of developments within the airfield boundary soon.
To keep the development relevant, DC Designs says that the Gulfstream hangar on the eastern edge of the airfield, which is due to become operational by 2020, will be included in the scenery package along with The Farnborough Conference Centre which opened in 2018.
Screenshots below show the vast space of the airfield and surroundings that is covered and the level of detail and complexity of the project at ground level as well. The airport is being tested using FSX and P3D. DC Designs commented that the plan is to also release the scenery package for X-Plane.
