COWS, (short for ‘Creator of Worlds’), has released a very brief teaser video of the upcoming DA40-XLS entitled “Love at First Flight” via its YouTube channel. In the video, we see 3D renders of the forthcoming aircraft along with in-game external views and the words, “Coming Soon”. From the information provided by the developer, we know that the aircraft will be released for MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024, and later, X-Plane 12. COWS further states that the release for MSFS is targeted for “early 2025”.
Powered by a single 180hp Lycoming engine, the DA40-XLS is a four-place aircraft made by Austrian manufacturer Diamond Aircraft. It is known for its fuel efficiency and reputation as an excellent flight training platform. Its cabin features large windows and a modern Garmin G1000 avionics suite. The aircraft is popular with both private operators for its superb cross-country comfort, and flight schools as a primary and instrument trainer.
In the video’s description, COWS states that the “DA40-XLS is meticulously designed to be the premier single-engine trainer aircraft for students to master essential procedures and maneuvers. Its flight model is handcrafted from hundreds of hours of expert instructor feedback, delivering an exceptionally accurate flight model. With custom-designed systems, featuring fully customizable circuit breakers, EIS, and cylinder physics simulation – you’ll be immersed in a flying environment like no other.”
COWS’ upcoming DA40-XLS follows their debut project, the DA42 Series light piston twin, which has been updated regularly since its release roughly one year ago. You can have a look at our review of that aircraft here.
