Contrail recently shared a development update on their upcoming Dassault Falcon 50 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024.
After earlier updates focused on model progress and system implementation, the team has now shifted attention toward full flight-phase testing, supported by real-world pilots, mechanics, and an experienced group of beta testers. This wider testing across regions, weather conditions, and operational scenarios is helping identify subtle behaviours and interactions that only become evident during extended use.

Most of the aircraft’s systems are now implemented and in place, and current work focuses more on refinement and resolving edge cases, such as addressing issues where systems interact with one another. The autopilot has been getting extensive attention recently as the Contrail team has been aiming for stable and predictable behaviour in all modes and phases of flight.
Visually, the FA50 is almost finished, with 3D modelling mostly complete both inside and out. However, the sound design still requires additional work, with Contrail noting that the sound set remains a significant item to better reflect real-world operating conditions.

Contrail also highlights the importance of documentation and user onboarding for their first aircraft project, with a comprehensive manual and structured tutorials still in the works. These elements are treated as essential parts of the overall product experience rather than optional extras.
Lastly, while a 2025 release window was previously communicated as a development target, the team stresses it was never a firm commitment. Meeting that target now would require compromises the team refuses to make. Instead, the FA50 will only be released once it meets the internal quality standards Contrail has set for its first aircraft.

That’s all for now, but make sure to stay tuned to FSElite for the latest updates.
