While you might know them as an addon marketplace and app, the team behind Contrail has been hard at work developing their first aircraft- the Falcon 50.

The FA50 is a three-engine, long-range business jet that first flew in 1976. It’s the first purpose-built trijet in business aviation. Its supercritical wing, drawn from fighter-aircraft heritage, paired with three fuel-efficient turbofans to deliver transcontinental range, high cruise speed, and a reputation for reliability that defined the type.

It remains a popular choice for operators who want intercontinental capability in a compact airframe, with the largest active fleet flying in the United States.

Contrail aims to bring pilots a unique experience with the FA50. As opposed to its contemporary glass cockpit colleagues, the FA50 brings a unique mix of digital and steam gauges in the cockpit. The developer’s goal was to produce a rendition of a jet that’s been lived-in and quietly upgraded for years.

Contrail FA50 Feature List and Pricing

In terms of systems, the FA50 includes completely custom made avionics, a working weather radar with tilt function, datalink weather on MX20 and GNS-XLS (MSFS24 only), and a paperclip chart for takeoff and landing performance with synced speed bugs and weights.

A custom EFB app brings Simbrief and JetCard import functions, Navigraph Charts integration, a ground handling services page, and many options to customize the aircraft to your needs.

The autopilot features accurate modes tuned to match the real aircraft along with parallel course functionality, VNAV offset, and VNAV Direct-To. An auto-throttle brings capability for holding max continuous thrust in climb and Mach hold in cruise.

The flight model has been vetted by real world FA50 pilots, while sounds for the FA50 come from bespoke recordings of the real aircraft. The 3D model features detailed PBR textures inside and out, custom liveries using the decal mesh technique, dynamic registration for most liveries, and custom animations throughout the aircraft.

Pilots can interact with many elements inside and out of the FA50 including sun shades, window blinds, the tow/no tow sign, and the torque link disconnect. For even more interactive fun, the FA50 can also be fuelled according to real-world ops.

Finally, the FA50 is compatible with MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024. The MSFS 2024 variant is fully native and features dedicated walkaround items, a weather radar with tilt function, dedicated ground handling physics, and the ability to tow your own aircraft.

Contrail’s FA50 is available now on Contrail for EUR 32,99 / GBP 28.43 / USD 38.08.
