Over the weekend on the X-Plane forums, Canada4XPlane announced the development of Vancouver International Airport for X-Plane 11. Vancouver International Airport is 7.5 miles from downtown Vancouver and is the second busiest airport in Canada. In 2018, Vancouver served over 25.9 million passengers and was a hub for Air Canada, Air Canada Express, Pacific Coastal Airlines, and WestJet. Vancouver hosts flights to all corners of the globe, from a short hop to Seattle in a Dash 8 to a long haul to Istanbul, Turkey, Vancouver offers it. A float plane facility is also located adjacent to the airport for those looking for more of an adventure.
Canada4XPlane included a full feature list and mentioned this will be a payware scenery, however, declined to release pictures until the airport is complete. The airport will feature HD ground textures and Orthophoto imagery. Sitting atop the imagery will be extremely accurate models and buildings, 3D volumetric grass, and ground ambient occlusion. Hundreds of custom buildings and objects will be included. Canada4XPlane also noted the inclusion of “extremely detailed parking lots.” Dynamic lighting will light up the airport at night and optional winter textures will help immerse the user while flying in and around Vancouver. Finally, an optional static aircraft package will be included for those without AI traffic, custom autogate, and WT3 compatibility is included.
While the airport is still very much a work in progress, Canada4XPlane is anticipating a release in June or July of 2020. The expected price at the time of launch will be $29.99. Below is a full list of anticipated features of Canada4XPlane’s Vancouver International Airport.
