Situated in the quaint Cambridgeshire countryside in England’s south-east, Fowlmere Airfield is brought to life by Burning Blue Design in Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Released as freeware, the airfield was once a base for RAF Spitfires in World War Two, and later on in the conflict it housed various fighters of the USAAF, including P51 Mustangs. Nowadays, the airfield is a tiny but lively aerodrome, hosting the British Aerobatic Academy and the Modern Air Flying Club.
The airfield also pays homage to its wartime past, featuring four separate monuments to the sacrifices made during the conflict. According to Burning Blue Design, Fowlmere has been ‘faithfully recreated by Burning Blue Design, undertaking on-site visits to ensure the highest levels of accuracy.’
