Scenery developer Boundless has released their third airport scenery, Birmingham (EGBB) for X-Plane 11.
Birmingham International Airport is located in the midlands of England approximately 7 miles southeast of the city of Birmingham. The airport started life as RAF Elmdon, opening in 1939, it was used extensively for RAF and naval flight training until 1946 when it was opened to civilian operations. The airport now sees nearly 13 million passengers pass through on over 100,000 aircraft movements a year. Airlines such as Tui, Jet2, Emirates and Air India fly to routes all over Europe and Asia including Istanbul, Dubai and the Canary Islands.
Boundless, previously known for their renditions of Jersey and Kerry, all released since March 2020, aim to bring high-quality scenery to X-Plane at a more competitive price. Their Birmingham scenery is their largest to date and includes full PBR buildings and high-definition custom ground textures, along with custom trees, ground polygons and custom terrain mesh which includes Birmingham’s iconic sloped runway; which makes for a tricky approach in high crosswinds. Boundless has taken the time to model all nearby hotels, roads with accurate road signage as well as an animated monorail between terminals and a plethora of ground equipment airside.
