Scenery developer Boundless has announced that they will be bringing Ronaldsway Airport to X-Plane 11. Writing on the X-Plane forum, the newcomers included a number of screenshots as well as explaining a bit of what we can expect.
Ronaldsway Airport, also known as Isle of Man Aiport is the main airport serving the island of the same name. Originally opening in 1928, the airport saw 865,617 passengers in 2019 with a number of operators providing hops over to mainland Britain and the Republic of Ireland.
A quick rundown of the airport’s main features was made, with notable mentions of a fully accurate apron and taxiway, custom buildings with PBR textures, custom 3D people and compatibility with popular AI traffic addons. Boundless also mentioned that they were thinking of releasing the entirety of the Isle of Man either separately or merged with the airport. Features of this package would include high-quality orthophotos, region-specific buildings and full road networks using OSM data.
The screenshots that were shared include snaps of the apron complete with static aircraft as well as the custom buildings mentioned above.
No mention was made of a release date or price just yet but the screenshots do suggest that development is progressing at a healthy pace. For more X-Plane 11 news, stay tuned to FSElite.
