Stratosphere-surfing scholars of speed will be stoked to hear that Blackbird Simulations’ SR-71A for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is now available for purchase as part of an early access program.
It’s the second supersonic spy plane for sale shortly before Santa’s sleigh slides through the city.
Blackbird’s rendition of its namesake airplane is focused on the pilot’s experience, with no simulation of the rear seat available nor planned for future release. As an early access release, the developer is aware that the SR-71A is in an imperfect state, with features like circuit breakers not yet implemented.
However, the SR-71A features all historical liveries, an authentic simulation of its systems and features, full simulation of air-to-air refueling from a KC-135T tanker model, four realism modes, an optional failure model involving 150 different failures, and cockpit dialogue recorded from real-world SR-71 pilots available in all flight phases.
The SR-71A is available now on the Blackbird Simulations Store at an early access price of USD 34.99 / EUR 29.85 / GBP 26.17.
The final release price is slated to be USD 59.99 / EUR 51.16 / GBP 44.87
