Black Box Simulations Announce V0.90 Details

In a recent Facebook post by Black Box Simulations, details were released about their upcoming V0.90 update to their Airbus aircraft:

Aircraft will now have a ‘Per Livery’/’Per Aircraft type’ save function from within the Pro-Flight Manager for the following setups:

  • Exterior model config, Satcom dome and more
  • EIS2 LCD or CRT cockpit displays
  • Analogue or ISIS standby package
  • ISIS pin programming (HDG, pressure and metric altitude setting)
  • MCDU OPC and AMI file settings for software an airline policies

V0.9 Will include a full rewrite of MCDU and FMGS systems to the Thales FMS2 Rev 1a which will include:

  • Independent operations of MCDU 1 and 2 (and 3 for Maintenance)
  • Upgraded navigation database for overfly options, transitions and non-precision approaches
  • Support for pilot-entered runways, waypoints and navaids
  • Basic AOC system with WX and W/B requests

Additionally, there will be a reworked MCDU & ND to GDI+ / Arinc draw code, which will result in better flight plan drawing, improved framerates, improved scaling and support for external tablet display (to be included in v0.95). BBS have also promised us ‘improved sounds’, a panel state saver and improved performance and stability throughout.

The update will also bring with it 7 new aircraft, which will all include an optional HUD:

  • A320 NEO
  • A321 NEO
  • A321 NEO LR
  • A330-800
  • A330-900
  • A340-200
  • A340-500

Finally, the developers have stated a few tweaks that they’re working on for V0.90:

  • A320 family pitch stability
  • A330 family landing performance
  • Fuel burn/range adjustments for the NEO series
  • Additional fuel to the 31 LR
  • Additional general tweaks

I understand that was a lot of jargon and many acronyms to take in, so to summarise: We’ll get rewritten MCDUs to improve flight plan following; there will be 7 new aircraft with heads-up display options; there’ll be various aesthetic options to edit in the Pre-Flight manager; we’ll get a weather request system and flight dynamic tweaks.

Whilst this update looks to be their biggest and most exciting, to date, BBS has stated that it is going to be completely free to existing customers and is targetted to release before the year’s end.
