Big Radials Releases Nieuport 17 WWI Fighter for MSFS

Following their successful launch of the P-40B Tomahawk, the team at Big Radials has released another classic fighter icon, the French-built Nieuport 17, for MSFS.

The Nieuport 17 was a small French sesquiplane fighter aircraft that was meant to serve as a replacement for the smaller-sized Nieuport 11, and that was put into active use at the midway point of WWI. The aircraft was designed and built by French aircraft manufacturer Nieuport and, back in the day, was considered to be “the best pursuit plane of the day.” This was primarily due to its exceptional manoeuvrability and excellent climb rate, allowing it to outperform nearly every other by then built aircraft on both sides of the conflict.

On an interesting side note, the aircraft was equipped with a so-called “Alkan-Hamy” synchronization gear which rendered it possible for the manufacturer to mount a synchronized Vicker’s gun, capable of firing through its propeller disc, on top of the engine cowling.

Vintage aircraft developer Big Radials has now rendered homage to this iconic French biplane by faithfully recreating it in MSFS. According to the developer, the product features a highly detailed 3D model of the Nieuport 17 and comes included with high-resolution textures. The product also features an accurate flight model, recreating the aircraft’s nimbleness, and includes an authentic, high-quality sound set recorded from an actual Le Rhone rotary engine.

Thinking about those among you that seek to go head-to-head against one another, the developer has also taken the time to include working machine guns in its recreation of this iconic aircraft.

Big Radials recreation of the Nieuport 17 is now available for purchase from the developer’s official online store. It will cost you 25.00 AUD, with the price being subject to your region of purchase.
