New French developer Azurpoly has just released its second-ever scenery for the new Microsoft Flight Simulator, recreating the charming airport of Toulon-Hyères, located in the French Riviera.
Being the Var department’s capital and forming a part of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, the city of Toulon is probably best known for both its sizeable Mediterranean port and significant French naval base. The city is considered the 14th largest French city by population count. As such, it comes as no surprise that it boasts an international airport, servicing both the city of Toulon and the municipality of Hyères. The airport opened its doors back in 1966 and is still actively being used by the French Navy, which has multiple air squadrons stationed at the south-western side of the field. The airport mainly offers seasonal services to many cities around Europe, with one of its only scheduled destinations being Paris-Orly, serviced daily by Air France.
Novel flight simulation development team Azurpoly has taken on the challenge of faithfully recreating this exotic summer destination. The scenery has been designed using the latest in flight simulation development techniques and takes full advantage of MSFS inherent PBR capabilities. The airport has been recreated with all of its charming and iconic buildings accurately modeled based on locally captured imagery. The scenery also features accurate photo imagery and ground textures, custom vegetation, as well as static aircraft and elements, bringing ambience to the airport and allowing it to come to life. Finally, the developers claim to have made smart use of LOD techniques, making the scenery less performance intensive. As a bonus, the developers also render prospective buyers attentive to the possibility of combining this scenery with their free “Iles d’Or” package, adding special touches to the islands surrounding the region within which the airport is located.
The scenery package can now be bought from the simMarket store for €9.94; £8.87 or $11.78 Ex VAT.
