AviaStorm has announced a partnership with Heatblur Simulations for the DCS: Tornado module. This news comes as Heatblur separately confirms that the A-6E AI asset will be included in the upcoming DCS World update.
AviaStorm & Heatblur Partnership
In the latest DCS Winter Sale newsletter, AviaStorm revealed that their upcoming DCS: Tornado module will be powered by Heatblur Simulations’ ANVIL Technology. This agreement grants AviaStorm access to the component-based simulation framework used in the Heatblur F-4E Phantom II module, as well as the JESTER 2.0 AI WSO system.
AviaStorm, which first announced the DCS: Tornado in September 2022, states that leveraging this technology is intended to ensure high standards and advance the development schedule. The developer emphasised that while they are utilising Heatblur’s backend technology, the development of the module remains under AviaStorm’s control.

DCS: A-6E AI Asset
Heatblur Simulations has also announced via their Discord community that the A-6E AI asset is scheduled for release in the next DCS World update. The developer confirmed that this free asset includes A-6E variants spanning from the 1970s to the 1990s, featuring historical loadouts for both the A-6E TRAM and A-6E SWIP variants.
While it doesn’t introduce entirely new mechanics to DCS, the asset will significantly improve the historical accuracy of carrier operations. It integrates fully with the Supercarrier module and supports buddy-pod refuelling for compatible aircraft, allowing mission designers to recreate authentic air wings of the era. Heatblur noted that this release lays the technical groundwork for the flyable A-6 module, which has been in active development with a full team since last year.
