The incredibly busy lads from Aero Sim Dev Group have announced a new project in the form of the Cessna Citation X, which is currently well into the development process.
Showing off the current progress on the X-Plane.org forum, we can see the 3D model is all but done, with functional cargo and pax doors, 3D cockpit, and a cabin with the level of luxury that you’d expect to find on just about any Citation X in the real world.

In the introductory post, PilotAlva from the ASDG team says that the development of this aircraft is “mainly focused on systems development paving the way for more complex aircraft in the future”, which you would expect to mean that this is intended to be a study level aircraft.
Similarly, he says that we should expect a full EFIS system running externally to the simulator, and a component condition tracking system allowing degradation of components on the aircraft.
The aircraft will also feature icing effects, as well as FMOD sounds for a heightened immersion experience.

Adding to the theory that this aircraft will be study-level, PilotAlva claims that the systems are being modelled based on FlightSafety’s FCOM manuals, meaning that procedures and functions should mimic the real world aircraft near perfectly.
Of course, this is all on top of what ASDG currently have in the works – the Vans RV-12, the Carbon Super Cub update, and various personal projects that the members of the group are currently working on. To add a (presumably) study-level aircraft to that workload is certainly leaving expectations, for all of these projects, very high.
We’re certainly watching this one with keen eyes, and will keep you informed of any major development updates.
