Eagle Dynamics has released a new update for DCS World, bringing the simulator to version 2.9.22.17790. The headline feature of this patch is the addition of the DCS: C-130J Super Hercules by Airplane Simulation Company.
DCS: C-130J Super Hercules
The C-130J module introduces a new level of logistics gameplay to DCS World. It features a fully interactive cockpit with modern digital avionics and a highly detailed simulation of the AE 2100D3 turboprop engines. A key feature is the first-person loadmaster mode, allowing players to walk freely inside the cargo bay and around the aircraft’s exterior to manage operations manually.
Core capabilities include authentic cargo management, precision aerial delivery of vehicles and supplies, and the ability to deploy the massive GBU-43/B MOAB. The update also enables the aircraft to function as a mobile logistics hub, with a new mechanic allowing players to spawn Forward Arming and Refueling Points from delivered cargo. Dynamic cargo items also directly affect the aircraft’s total weight, adding another layer of realism to mission planning.
The module supports multi-crew for pilot and co-pilot roles, with a third crew station planned for future updates. Airplane Simulation Company has noted some initial known issues, including visual glitches with cargo crates in multiplayer and restrictions on reloading vehicles once they have been unloaded.

Cold War Germany Map Expansion
The DCS: Cold War Germany map by Ugra Media has received a massive content expansion in this update. 19 new airfields have been added, including Cologne Bonn, Dusseldorf, Bornholm, and Norvenich Air Base. The update also introduces 8 new highway strips, 6 large cities (including Cologne, Bonn, and Copenhagen), and 25 unique landmarks such as the Cologne Cathedral and various dams.
Module and Core Updates
The DCS: CH-47F Chinook has received significant avionics upgrades, adding a DAFCS Native Altitude Hold mode and a comprehensive list of flight plan patterns, including Holding, Circle, Ladder Search, and Tactical Approach procedures. SFD tapes and indicators have also been implemented.
Heatblur Simulations has updated both the F-4E Phantom II and F-14 Tomcat. The F-4E sees improvements to the ALR-46 RWR logic and the addition of a “Reload Aircraft” keybind for the persistent aircraft system. The F-14 Tomcat received updates to the ALR-45/50 strobe length formulas and database additions including the SA-8 and SA-11.
Other changes include fixes for the MiG-29A’s radar in COOP mode, damage scaling for concrete structures based on weapon penetration depth, and tuning of AI manoeuvring behaviour after weapon release. Users of primarily Soviet aircraft will also be glad to see that tweaks have been made to the guidance logic of the R-27 family of missiles, which had previously caused them to miss their target frequently.
