Aerosoft has just published their version of the Cologne/Bonn Airport (EDDK) for Microsoft Flight Simulator. This is a very detailed rendition of the airport that includes all terminals and buildings. They are all modeled with PBR materials and high definition textures. The terminal interiors are also modeled. The scenery takes advantage of the MSFS possibilities where the surrounding terrain also received extra care, with detailed terrain elevation and runway profile. The surrounding of the airport is included in the custom aerial image that is used as a base for the scenery. In addition to the extensive modeling, the airport includes a lot of details in ground markings and ground clutter for a more lively experience. As such, the airport is true to the actual layout.
The Cologne/Bonn airport is the 7th busiest airport of Germany. It is one of the few airport of the country that operates at all times, including by night. It is home to the European Hub of parcel company UPS, but also receives many other cargo operators. The airport also has two main passenger terminals which saw around 12 million passengers in 2019.
