Aerosoft has released Airport Brno for Microsoft Flight Simulator. This rendition of the Brno-Turany Airport (LKTB) was developed by Pavel Movzer, who’s known for his development of several Eastern European airports for P3D including Liepaja, Kosice-Barca, Bratislava M. R. Stefanik, and Poprad-Tatry.
Brno-Turany Airport is situated in the historical region of Moravia in the Czech Republic and serves Moravia’s largest city, Brno. Located at the intersection of the Svitava and Svratka rivers, Brno is the Czech Republic’s second largest city after Prague. Brno’s vibrant culture is pervasive throughout the city. In fact, Brno has 484 legally protected sites which includes the Beautiful Cathedral of Saint Peter and Paul and the Villa Tugendhat, a protected UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Brno-Turany Airport itself is located only 5 miles from the city center and is right on the edge of the Austerlitz battlefield, one of the most important engagements of the Napoleonic Wars. The airport was used by the Czechoslovak Air Force during the 1980s before being reconverted to civil use after the fall of communism in 1989. The modern airport’s design was created by the architect Petr Parolek and is heavily influenced by organic architecture, a design philosophy that emphasizes harmony between man-made and natural structures.
Pavel Movzer’s faithful recreation of the airport includes a few areas of the city including the area around the Brno tower and a castle. For the simmers that love to fly helicopters, the nearby hospital is modeled alongside two usable helipads. Additional details include the fire department vehicles, fuel tankers, custom taxiway lamps, flying clubs, and more.
