Today marks the 75th anniversary of D-Day and Aeroplane Heaven has taken to Facebook to announce their brand new project to coincide with the commemorations.
One of the most iconic aircraft of WW2, the Douglas C-47 Skytrain, led an armada of aircraft carrying over 50,000 paratroopers across the English channel to Normandy in France on that fateful day in 1944. Aeroplane Heaven has promised that this project will be one of the most highly detailed renditions of this aircraft ever produced for flight simulation.
What we can expect from this project is a lot of detail with two variants, the C-47 military transporter and the Dakota civilian version. Hi-definition modelling will be in full detail throughout the whole aircraft. The cockpit will be produced with fully modelled gauges displaying 3D dials along with raised paintwork markings throughout. PBR effects can be expected inside and outside of the whole aircraft. Fabrics, materials, ageing and weathering effects will also be included.
The two variants will come with a host of liveries with an “On-the fly” configuration panel which will allow you to change the liveries, colours, materials and ageing effects whilst flying.
What we know so far is that this aircraft will be released at some point this year for Prepar3D v4.4+ only due to PBR workloads. If the demand for this aircraft is high then the development for other simulator platforms is a real possibility.
