A brand new subscription service for Microsoft Flight Simulator products is launching very soon. Called SimAtlas, the new service aims at simplifying the ability to add scenery products (different types of products in the future) to your simulator, all for a single monthly subscription.

The new platform aims to be a simple and straightforward way to manage your scenery library. Pay a monthly subscription and have access to a large product library. You will be able to use their proprietary software to either stream or download the scenery to your sim, just as you would today. For developers, the product is protected by DRM, to ensure files only remain accessible while a member is subscribed.

The developers behind SimAtlas say, “our goal is ambitious but straightforward: make great content easier to discover and vastly more affordable to enjoy”. They continued, “[All] while still allowing developers to grow their revenue.” The plan is to make this a win-win solution for all.

When SimAtlas launches, the subscription will cost $16.00 USD per month and give you access to nearly 100 Premium scenery products. So far, developers such as MM Simulations, MXI Design, SoFly, SS3D, and ShadeScene have signed up, offering products for paid subscribers. You can see the collection list here. In the future, the team will expand to other product types in the future, but will start with scenery.

SimAtlas is due to launch in December. You can join their waitlist now to be notified when SimAtlas launches. Additionally, you can also join their Discord in order to ask the team questions or suggest developers for them to reach out to in the future.

Features for Users

  • Instead of deciding whether a single add‑on is worth it, access a rich library of content for a flat monthly fee.
  • Fly with add‑ons you might never have explored otherwise.
  • The SimAtlas client securely installs, updates, and manages all content—no manual copying of files or community folder management. Just make sure the client remains open for the duration of the MSFS session, else included content will stop working.
  • A free demo with freeware content will let you try the client before subscribing.

Features for Developers

  • Content is protected by our client software and available only to active subscribers.
  • Earn recurring income – a significant majority of subscription revenue is paid out as royalty fees.
  • License a single product or an entire catalog.
  • All Community‑folder content types are supported.
