Welcome to Innsbruck. Capital of the state Tyrol (Tirol) and hidden in the Alps. Historic home to the Olympic Winter Games not once, but twice. A busy hub for many tourists particularly during winter. With challenging terrain, tight turns and forever changing weather, it is arguably the most dangerous airport approach in Europe.

If that sounds familiar: that was the exact opening for my review for Innsbruck by JustSim. But that doesn’t make it less true. Innsbruck is a beautiful place with many famous landmarks. And of course the very famous approach through the mountains. With the review mentioned above I wasn’t too impressed for missing out on the details that make this area so amazing (though the airport itself was very nice), beautiful and unique. But did Orbx manage to capture this feeling?

Short answer: yes. Orbx have done an incredible job with Innsbruck. The area looks amazing. The details and landmarks are all there. The airport itself feels very busy and alive, and so do the towns in the area. If you’re here to get convinced to buy this add-on: you will not regret it. For those that want to dive a little bit deeper into it: let’s read on.

In early 2015 MK Studios posted a cryptic terrain mesh of an airport that needs no introduction and asked the community if they knew the airport. This would lead to months of excruciating anticipation for the community. However almost two years later the saga was brought to an end and we welcomed Madeira Evolution X with open arms.

I think you’ll be hard pushed to find anyone who hasn’t heard of this infamous airport or its toe-curling approach so much like the majority of the community I was itching to get my hands on a copy. Madeira Evolution X is available on simMarket for £22.79 Inc VAT or if you were the owner of the previous versions an upgrade fee is payable. Like most products on simMarket the file is a direct download with an approximate size of 1.2GB and once purchase is complete you will receive an activation key for a straight forward installation. There is no customization tool available which isn’t a major issue given that this is a small airport. It may seem common sense but I personally recommend reading the user manual. I was so eager to fly that I skipped the manual and ran into a few issues that due to my negligence took a few days on the forums to identify. I’d also like to say that the support team are very good and attentive so if you have any issues go straight there after the manual of course.

Piper’s PA-28 Arrow III is part of the the iconic Cherokee family, battling the GA sky’s against its rival Cessnas 172. When I heard the team at Just Flight were working on the Ferrari of Cherokee’s, with it’s 200 hp fuel injected Lycoming engine humming at a maximum cruise speed 146 ktas over a range of 697 nm up to 15,000 feet, I couldn’t wait to trade up to something a little more sporty. I still held my reservations though, was this just another GA aircraft that will hold my attention for one or two flights? Or have the team at Just Flight done enough to make a permanent spot in my virtual hangar?

Recently we’ve seen a lot of new exciting scenery released for various islands across Europe. One that caught our attention is Aerosoft’s Menorca X Evolution. Aerosoft have always been well known in the European scenery development and rule the market when it comes to small islands and holiday destinations such as Madeira, Gibraltar and more. Today we take an in depth look in to the Sim-Wings/Aerosoft Menorca X scenery, available on the Aerosoft Store.

Don’t forget Menorca is now part of the Balearic Islands package enabling you to have access to all the islands for a reduced cost.

As the northern hemisphere leaves winter and approaches summer, there’s no better than short hops across the southern Europe to visit extraordinary holiday destination such as Ibiza, Madeira and more. Plan your flight, fire up your sim, sit back and relax because Aerosoft and its developers have you covered.

Menorca X Evolution is the successor to the original Menorca scenery released by Aerosoft. The “Evolution” part boasts improved performance, visuals and redefined photoscenery. Located within the Balearic Islands, a couple hundred kilometres off of the coast of Spain, Menorca is popular among tourists for its incredible beaches, serenity and peacefulness. Several airlines operate in and out of Menorca daily, ranging from small turboprops to 737s and A321s. Menorca airport (LEMH) has been dealing with increased traffic over the past years and has upgraded its runway to a  brand new 2550m (8370ft) runway, equipped with full Runway Approach Lighting, PAPIs as well as a CAT1 Instrument Landing System. So if the weather is bad, there’s no trouble getting in to the airport during low visibility. The small ramp area is modernised with jetways and large parking spaces fitting aircraft up to Boeing 747s. Approaching the airport from either side is stunning: from the south you fly over the marina and city, from the north you experience cliffs and lazure like water.

Danish airports are some of the most popular in the flight sim community. Thanks to the beautiful terrain, challenging and varied weather as well as a huge variety of routes available. Various developers have created some masterpieces for some of Denmark’s biggest airports, yet some of the more mid-range airports have been left relatively untouched. Billund is one of those airports, and lucky for us, Vidan Designs have stepped up to the plate to create the Lego-founded airport.

We are aware there have been some updates to the scenery and are currently testing them.

RFSceneryBuilding Turin-Caselle Airport (LIMF): The FSElite Review

Turin Caselle Airport is one of their latest scenery packs to be developed for the Flight Sim community by RFscenerybuilding. The airport is located 16km north-northwest of the city of Turin in the Piedmont region of northern Italy. The airfield opened in 1953 on the site of a WWII air base and has seen many renovations in preparation for several major sporting events which thrust the Turin into the limelight. In both 2007 and 2008 the airport won the ACI Europe Best Airport Awards in the category 1-5 million passengers. The airfield has one runway designated as 18/36 with a total length of 10,827ft. Runway 36 is equipped with Cat III-B ILS to help with those low visibility approaches.

The airport caters for many airlines including cargo operators. To name but a few Air France, Alitalia, British Airways, easyJet, KLM and Lufthansa respectively. You really are spoilt for choice when it comes to deciding a carrier for your simulated flights.

Passenger figures through the past five years have been steadily increasing, in 2015 the airport was visited by 3,666,582 people from all over Europe. All of this ensures that many people will benefit from flying here within the Sim.

Majestic’s Dash 8 Q400 is by far my favourite aircraft. It’s sophisticated, very in depth, performs amazing, provides a fun challenge when flying it and it looks really amazing. However, the guys over at FSFX Packages thought these looks could get even better, and decided to upgrade this already amazing plane with one of their famous immersion packages. So is this immersion package an absolute must have for everyone flying around in Majestic’s prop-liner? Let’s find out!
